It has been replaced by a new, well-landscaped grassy area. It had long ago fallen into disrepair, becoming an eyesore and a liability. In early 2008, hearings were held. The overwhelming majority of owners attending expressed their approval that it be removed - and it was.
Trees. Certain trees around the Kukilakila development are being removed. This is in accordance with the Arborist Report, commissioned in 2006, which identified them as being invasive or inappropriate for their location, such as their roots breaking up walkways and seawalls, or growing too tall for economical maintenance. They are being replaced with more manageable plants. Owners who are interested may download a copy of the 2006 Arborist's Report from the KCA official Web Site.
Roadways. The KCA Maintenance Committee is in the process of obtaining bids for repairs to the roadways. What work is finally let and in what order will depend on the cost and the money available. At least the minimum expected will be to slow further deterioration by sealing the surfaces and blocking off tree roots that are breaking up the substructure.
Kukilakila Documents. Most of the governing documents concerning Kukilakila, as well as guidelines, rules, procedures and minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors, can be obtained by owners from the KCA official Web site.
Message Board. A Message Board, for use by owners at Kukilakila, is on the KCA official Web site.
A Calendar of Kukilakila Events is on the KCA official Web site. Important Notices are usually posted on the side of mailboxes throughout the property as well. Look for them.
The Bobbing Coconut is the KCA newsletter published in printed form. It's circulated to owners by mail, usually monthly. Please submit articles for inclusion to Director Patti Almonte, pkalmonte@hawaii.rr.com. Copies of issues are posted on the KCA official Web site.

Flood Insurance. It is our understanding that Kukilakila's casualty insurance does NOT protect individual homeowners in the event of flood. Different Home Owner Insurance carriers may have different interpretations of what constitutes flooding, such as run-off waters, as well as rising waters. It's a good idea to check with your agent to be sure if you're protected BEFORE loss occurs.Public Information. This is a guide for obtaining Public Information. It was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on March 12, 2006. It's a "keeper," and well worth the time necessary to check it out. Click on this link: Guide to Getting Public Information
What's a PUD? Find out here. Why? Because Kukilakila IS a PUD and it should not be confused with being a condominium. Different laws apply.
PUDs - Explanation (Planned Unit Developments - Hawaiian Condominium Guide) 03/27/2006Like to Watch CSPN? Do you ever wonder how the bunch of cats we call the U.S. Congress are herded? The Congress, and just about every deliberative body, even down to Community Associations, are governed not only by specific laws, but also by a set of rules called Robert's Rules of Order. These Rules often are incorporated into the "Documents" of such Associations. Not everyone keeps a copy of Robert's Rules on their bookshelf, so here's a non-copyrighted version you may find it fun to peruse. It's lengthy and sometimes involved. But its purpose is to keep the horses from running away with the wagon. Enjoy! Robert's Rules of Order (Reference)
